Welcome to my portfolio.

I have received a  Masters of Library and Information Science degree from the Emporia State University SLIM program in August 2009. Here you can read about how I have fulfilled the outcomes and values of the program.

I have come to librarianship after being a Montessori teacher for twenty years. I have always been an enthusiastic user of libraries.       I decided to make this career change after recognizing my passion for organizing and finding information. During the program I have explored many different areas of libraries and information.  I have found all the areas  interesting from cataloging and collection development to reference and teaching. I am interested in all kinds of libraries, but particularly appreciate public libraries. I have been very interested in services for older adults
. I am excited about combining my past experiences and new knowledge and applying them to a new career in libraries and information services. I enjoy the intellectual exercise of cataloging and technical services, but I also enjoy interacting with and serving the public.

Outside of libraries, I am an avid knitter, love cats,  and am interested in politics, social justice, and native plants. I am an active member of the Unitarian-Universalist church.
